John Foltz: listen

Alive With You

(John Foltz)

John Foltz
I wrote this for my ex-wife when I proposed to her. Now everybody, all at once, "Awwwww". Yes, it's true. In fact, she even walked down the aisle to it. It seems like a lifetime ago, and I suppose to quite and extent it was. There exists another verse to this song, however, that shall always remain solely hers.
You never need to wonder if I love you
There are things about me that will never change
And if forever seems a long time
I think it’s much too short to spend with you beside me
And when I can’t imagine why you’re even next to me at all
You make me see myself through your eyes

And I want to give the same to you
And I believe in all we do
And now I’m alive, and I want to share it all with you

I want to take you off to Paris
In the summer when the flowers there are blooming
We would climb the Eiffel Tower
And look down upon the world that we’re awaiting
And I would ask you questions about the future
And wonder about the roads we’ll take as we grow old together

‘Cause I want to walk those roads with you
And I can’t even begin without you
And now I’m alive, and it’s all because my love for you is endless

It can never fade away
If you’re there, then I’m OK
And you’re with me everyday
When I think about the way
That forever’s not our time, but our destination
It is our road, it’s our belief, and our passionate dance
As our lives weave together evermore

I want so much to thank you
‘Cause I wouldn’t know love without you
And now I’m alive, this is how you make me feel always
