John Foltz: listen
Both Sides of Me [live]
(John Foltz)

There are people who pass in and out of your lives for whatever reason. This song was written about some old friends that I was out of touch with for several years. It was where I was at the time, and I hoped from afar that they knew that I still thought about them.
There was a time when you called me ‘J’
I’m so far past that now
I can’t even remember who that is
Got a wife now, got another life now
And I’m moving along between both sides of me
To find out where to go
Took myself on back to that old sound we had
Man, I tell you, when we wanted to
We could really tear it down
But I’m myself now, and I’m by myself now
And I’m moving along between both sides of me
To find out where to go
If there are moments when I’m not right
And if I seem to you to be someone
Who’s been taken for a ride
You need to know I still love you, been thinking of you
But I’m moving along the lines defining me
To find out what’s on the other side
There was a time when you called me ‘J’
I can’t even remember now
If I ever knew who that person was
Maybe that’s the point, though I hate to disappoint you
J’s not here anymore
But he told me to say hello and wish you well
‘Cause life is good on the other side
