John Foltz: listen

Night-Lifers (Tune Out the Noise)

(John Foltz)

Finally, one that's not about the gentler sex. Well, at least not directly. This song was inspired by a couple I knew a long time ago when I worked at a coffee shop. Their relationship was not all that dissimilar to the couple in this song - likely unhealthy, and certainly unsavory. They shall, however, remain nameless. As long as they continue to pay me. :) (Please note the change of address.)
Gino goes to Reno
Rides in with a pocketful of money
In a white limousine
Gino hits the casino
Walks out of town five-thousand down
But that ain’t no reason to worry
He’s got a woman and a Cadillac car
Drinks Anisette, smokes a Cuban cigar
He plays the Blackjack ‘cause the woman say
He’s got to get before the getting goes away

Burn out the lights
You’ve got to make up your mind
‘Cause you’re gonna wind up somebody else
You said it yourself
Turn ‘em up and tune out the noise

Sheila, she’s a freewheeler
They all say that when she hits a mattress
It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen
She goes home and gives it up easy
Jumping on Gino to go back to Reno
Bring Sheila back some green
Late show, gotta go, man on the side
She may be bad, but she won’t be denied
She checks his wallet and her clothes hit the floor
One ain’t enough when you can always get more

Burn out the lights
You’ve got to make up your mind
‘Cause you’re gonna wind up somebody else
You said it yourself
Turn ‘em on and tune out the noise

Gino’s back in Reno, Sheila’s back in sin
She’s putting out while Gino’s raking it in
Come Monday night and he’ll be back in town
She’ll ring his bell and then they start another round

Burn out the lights
You’ve got to make up your mind
‘Cause you’re gonna wind up somebody else
You said it yourself
Turn ‘em down and tune out the noise

Burn out the lights
You’ve got to open your eyes some time
Or you’re gonna wind up somebody else
You said it yourself
Turn ‘em off and tune out the noise
